Making winter construction work easier

In the winter period, harsh climatic conditions can lead to complications on construction sites during repairs to damaged gas and water networks, excavation work etc. Such problems can be avoided with the help of FENIX electric heating systems.

In the winter period, harsh climatic conditions can lead to complications on construction sites during repairs to damaged gas and water networks, excavation work etc. Such problems can be avoided with the help of FENIX electric heating systems.

PDS1P heating cables were developed to speed up the curing and hardening of concrete. Their design enables them to be installed and connected easily. They are intended exclusively for industrial use in the form of one single short-term application in the winter period. Installation involves the fixation of the heating part of the circuit to the Kari mesh (welded wire mesh) with plastic tie strap fasteners and subsequent coverage with a concrete layer.

The minimum installation temperature of the PDS1P cable is -10 °C; the minimum bending radius and distance between the loops is 60 mm. The heating cable has to be surrounded on all sides by concrete with a thickness of at least 5 cm. The total installed wattage is to be selected depending on the thickness of the concrete and on the surrounding conditions. However, it mustn't exceed 400 W/m3. For simple connection to the electricity supply network, the circuits are fitted with a 3 m long supply lead with a Schuko plug at the end. After finishing the process of curing and hardening the concrete, the supply lead is cut and the cables are left enclosed in the concrete slab.

The D-MAT sheet is intended for warming soil at excavation sites, stored friable materials and cables on reels, as well as for maintaining the temperature of parts of machines or tools etc. The sheet is spread across the protected surface, where it creates a thermal barrier and thus prevents freezing or warms up the required surface. The 5 m long supply lead, ending in a Schuko plug, is used for the connection of the sheet to the electricity supply network. Power supply voltage: 230 V/50 Hz, IP 56.

PDS1P heating circuits and D-Mat sheets are thus welcome helpers on construction sites, when water, gas or sewage water distribution network breakdowns occur, when the protection of industrial machines is needed etc. Their use enables the prolonging of the construction season and makes work in the winter period easier.
